One of my favorite memories in Italy was St. Patrick's Day. We were all repeatedly told by multiple people that Italians did not celebrate St. Patty's Day like we did in Savannah. I partly believed that was true because in Savannah is one of the biggest St. Patty's Day celebrations ever! But I also felt like they people in Siena had to go out and do something for the holiday. A couple of girls & I decided to get dressed up to go out and see what we could find. To our surprise, there was one little alleyway with a bar inside the alley. The bar had a DJ set up right outside the door playing music, but what surprised me the most was that there was probably 100 people squeezed into this little alleyway celebrating St. Patty's Day. The rest of the town was pretty much dead except this one small strip. It was pretty spectacular to see how even though most Italians don't celebrate St. Patty's Day, there was still a small portion of the population all together celebrating & having the time of their lives!

Studying abroad, especially in Italy, was a once in a lifetime opportunity. I honestly had the time of my life while in Italy. I learned so much more being in the actual country than I could ever learn from a textbook at school. If I had the choice to do it all over again then I would. I traveled as much as I could to as many places as I could go since I probably will not get the chance to do something like that again in my life. I learned so much from the people I lived with & from the people I meet while in Siena. One of the hardest obstacles I faced was the language barrier, it was difficult at first, but I learned to adapt. I'm so glad that I got to go on this amazing journey & meet so many incredible people. As much as I'm glad to be home, if I had the chance to travel around & live in a new place like Siena again then I wouldn't hesitate to do it all over again!
